John 21:5-6 He called out, “Fellows, have you caught any fish?” “No,” they replied. Then he said, “Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll get some!” So they did, and they couldn’t haul in the net because there were so many fish in it.
Jesus had a thing for fish, most of His inner circle consisted of fishermen. And although these men would fish for a living they were doing it without one main ingredient…HOPE! Most of the time they would come up empty-handed. However, now they had Jesus in their boat- the Hope of Glory! He began to teach them to throw their nets “again” (perseverance) but to do it this time with some HOPE! Needless to say they caught an overflow.
Many times our boats are full, not with fish, but with disappointments. We are drained of giving our best but coming up short every time. We give up as soon as we see things not working out and then quickly label it “that wasn’t God’s will.” But multiplication IS God’s will and He wants to remind you this morning that HOPE is alive and He’s in your boat. His desire is that you would Believe again, have Faith again, Hope again and Persevere again until you catch that promise.
Don’t be discouraged by a few bad throws, that’s not the end…you were called to multiply and that’s exactly what you will do. So launch that net AGAIN and trust God for the catch.
